Yoga Programs for Kids a Natural Fit

It's no wonder yoga poses such as "child's pose" and "happy baby" are names inspired by children. With natural flexibility and a willingness to be silly and fun, children, are natural yogis.

Dancing Dogs Yoga — both their Beaufort and Bluffton studios — offer great programs for kids. Here are several of their programs:

Little Pretzels

When/Where: From 4-5 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 5 at the Dancing Dogs Bluffton location and at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at the Beaufort location
Info: Children (ages 4-9) will improve strength, flexibility and coordination through the practice of yoga poses. Instructors will call upon the imagination and creativity as they utilize the natural world as a model. Children will learn to focus and center themselves using breathing and relaxation techniques. They will cultivate self-respect and respect for others through our practice and non- competitive, group games and morality tales.
Cost: 8 Week Sessions, $85 per session; $150, two sessions; $225, three sessions

Yogi Pups: You and and Me Yoga

When/Where: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4 at Dancing Dogs Beaufort locations
Info: Whether you're 3 or 103, yoga is good for you. So bring a toddler and a big smile, and prepare for a learning, growing experience. This class is steeped in creative movement and story- telling , and uses yoga and song and to teach your child creativity and self-awareness. Expect a fun, light-hearted experience that you and your child will love. Perfect for walkers up to age 3. Younger siblings are welcome. Parent or caregiver participation is required.
Cost: 8 Week Sessions, $85 per session; $150, two sessions; $225, three sessions

 

Tween Warriors Series

When/Where: Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Dancing Dogs Yoga, Beaufort location
Info:Tween Warriors is a yoga class designed for kids ages 10-12. Kids will learn relaxation techniques, mindfulness, and yoga poses in a safe and supportive environment. We'll learn how to work together, how to manage stress, and experiment with mindful eating, meditation techniques, and partner exercises that help kids learn the value of helping each other, and themselves in the process. If your kids are slightly older or younger but you feel they are a good fit for this program, please call 843.263.5864. Teens are welcome to transition in to our other classes.
