Skidaway Island State Park Campground
Located 6.0 miles southeast of Savannah on the Diamond Causeway on Skidaway Island. Directions: Exit I-95 at exit 16/94 and drive 12 miles toward Savannah. Turn right onto Montgomery Cross Road and continue 1.4 miles to Whitfield Avenue. Turn right onto Whitfield Avenue which becomes Diamond Causeway, continue 5.0 miles to the park entrance.
A barrier island which has both salt and fresh water due to estuaries and marshes the flow through the area. Skidaway Island State Park borders Skidaway Narrows which is part of the intracostal waterway. The park offers scenic camping and picnicking areas, two nature trails, observation towers and a museum.

Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge
This 10,070-acre migratory bird refuge consists of a single barrier island (Wassaw Island), tidal salt marsh, two smaller islands (collectively known as Little Wassaw Island), several small hammocks. Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge, with approximately 25 miles of boundary or shoreline, is comprised of 76 percent salt marsh, 24 percent beach dune and upland forest communities, roads, trails, and administrative land.Seven miles of undeveloped beach provides nesting habitat for the threatened Loggerhead sea turtle. Numerous species of shorebirds visit this spectacular beach.

Wormsloe Historic Site
Located 10 miles southeast of I-95 Savannah's historic district on Skidaway Road.
Wormsloe Historic Site is home of the tabby ruins of Wormsloe, the colonial estate constructed by Noble Jones, one of Georgia's first settlers. The Historic Site offers visitors the opportunity to view artifacts excavated at Wormsloe. Wormsloe Historic Site also offers a museum, gift shop, a picnic area, bus parking, and a nature trail.

Located 10 miles east of I-95 on Ga. Spur 144. Take exit 15 to Highway 144 east through Richmond Hill. Drive approximately six miles and turn left onto Spur 144. Spur ends at park entrance. Home to the best preserved earthwork fortification of the Confederacy, Fort McAllister Historic Park is located on the south bank of the Great Ogeechee River. In addition to it's Civil War museum the park also features live oaks, a beautiful salt marsh and offers activities such as hiking, camping, fishing and picnicking. Fort McAllister is located in Bryan County, but is being included in the Chatham County section because it is located near the county line.
