Boys & Girls Clubs form fundraising team
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry recently formed a Resource Development team to support the six clubs in the organization in their mission of providing a positive place for kids.
Jan Gourley, Vice President of Resource Development and Marketing, is one of the of professional fundraisers on the team. Gourley has more than 25 years in advertising, marketing, public relations and sales. She was the president and creative director of her own advertising and public relations firm, Jack & Associates, in Atlanta prior to moving to this area.
Debbie Szpanka is the Director of Donor Relations, Public Relations and Marketing. She formerly served as the former executive director of the Palmetto Chapter of American Red Cross and as a public information officer for the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Liz Vallino serves as the Director of Special Events and Sponsorships. She has extensive experience in fundraising and special events planning with the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce, the Palmetto Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, and the Monthly Media Group.
Patra Culpepper is the team's Database Manager. Culpepper has more than 20 years experience in office and database management and accounting.
Doug Barry, executive director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry said, "Uniting the resource development positions in one team, we created a more efficient and effective way to provide fund raising services for all of the clubs."

Design Contest Centered around Island School Council for the Arts
Island School Council for the Arts is looking for a winning design to publicize its 30th annual An Evening of The Arts.
The designer of the chosen image will win $250 and the work will be used on the organization’s Web site, Facebook, the cover of the main program and on fliers, posters and more.
Artists may use a variety of media, such as watercolors, pen and ink, crayon, chalk, markers, etc. Brighter colors, however, reproduce better. The design should be easy to see and reproduce.
All entries must be submitted or postmarked by August 1, 2010.
