Kazoo for the kids


When/Where: "Beause We're on Summer Vacation," 7:30 p.m. Mondays through Aug. 15 at Hilton Head Comedy Club in Pineland Station; 7 p.m. through Aug. 2 at ARTworks in Beaufort Town Center


Info: The Kazoobie Kazoo Show with Rick Hubbard gets the entire family involved. Along with his computerized music tracks, Hubbard plays guitar, banjo, steel drum, slide whistle, and best of all, kazoo. For the grand finale of the show, everyone in the audience receives a free kazoo. The newly formed kazoo band performs a marching, kazooing final song.

Gregg Russell Family Concerts

Summer Jams Party In The Park


When/Where: Tuesdays through August 9, 7 – 10 p.m. at Shelter Cove Community Park 

Info: The Island Recreation Association, along with our sponsors Budweiser, The Smokehouse and Adventure Radio, are proud to bring back the free Summer Jams Party in the Park. Come to the park every Tuesday night this summer and check out the fireworks in a fun-filled, festive atmosphere where kids can enjoy inflatable bounce houses and face painting. Back again this summer is 103.1 The Drive’s Jeff Taylor who makes Summer Jams better than ever. The highlight of the night is still the fireworks’ display around 9pm over Shelter Cove. Barbecue from the Smokehouse, hot dogs, Giuseppi’s pizza, Coca-Cola, Bud and Bud Light will be sold. All proceeds benefit our children’s scholarship fund which helps guarantee that “no child is denied” recreation opportunities. So once again bring your family and your friends on Tuesday nights this summer for a night of family fun and enjoy the fireworks in the park.

Water Fun Day in the Park
When/Where: Thursdays, July 7, 14, 21, and August 4 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Shelter Cove Community Park
Info: Water Fun Day is back! The Island Recreation Association is proud to bring back the Water Fun Day in the Park. Come to the park on Thursday June 23, July 7, 14, 21, and August 4 from 4:00-7:00 pm for a fun-filled, festive atmosphere where kids can enjoy inflatable water bounce houses.

Do-Drop-In Story Times Program

When/Where: 10:30 a.m. Saturdays at the Bluffton library
Info: Ms. Gail hosts expanded Drop-In story times. The Thursday programs involve story times and songs for 45 minutes; they're geared for ages 3-5-ish. The Saturday programs are geared toward 2-6-ish. Registration is not required.
Cost: Free

Imagination Hour
When/Where: 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursdays at The Sandbox
Info: Story time followed by arts and crafts, games or science projects. Each week will feature fun themes. This is designed for parents and caregivers to interact and to assist their child with each project. Stay and play after the program.
Cost: Included in admission/membership fee.

Summer Hours at The Sandbox
Info: The Sandbox, An Interactive Children’s Museum, will be open on Mondays beginning Memorial Day, May 30. Regular hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am-5:00 pm from Memorial Day through Labor Day, September 5, 2011.
