Valentine's Day Craft

Celebrate the month of love with your child by making a Valentine's Day craft. Lowcounry Child asked Sandra Walsh, second-grade teacher from Hilton Head School of the Creative Arts, for an easy, affordable and fun art project anyone can do. Heart necklaces, made with Elmer's Glue, yarn and a little bit of glitter, make great homemade kid gifts for far-away grandparents or friends.

Below are step-by-step instructions, along with a video. Click and print here to save the craft for a later date.

Thanksgiving Tree

Thanksgiving Tree
This beautiful centerpiece is sure to grab people’s attention as they learn what your family is thankful for.  I am also going to create this and leave the leaves blank for my Thanksgiving guests to create their own tree.
Supplies
Glass jar
Sticks
Rocks
Construction Paper
Scissors
Markers
Hole Punch (not necessary)
Instructions
Gather several large sticks with lots of branches still on them.
Assemble the sticks in a large glass jar.  Fill the jar with rocks to hold the sticks in place.
Cut out several different kinds of leaves from construction paper.  Ask your children what they are thankful for and write it on the leaves.
Cut holes in the leaves to attach to the branches.  You can also use ribbon or paper clips to attach the leaves.

This beautiful centerpiece is sure to grab people’s attention as they learn what your family is thankful for.

Thankful Turkeys

Show your friends and family what you are thankful for with this creative centerpiece.  I have a three year old and there wasn’t too much for him to help with this craft.  He did tell me what he was thankful for and he enjoyed playing with the turkey when the craft was complete.

Pinecone Turkeys

My 2.5 year old really enjoyed this craft, although there wasn’t too much that he could help with. He did help with the glue, but I did the pipe cleaners. He liked the finished product so much that he wanted the turkey to sleep in his bed!

Nature Pals

This is the craft that I enjoyed the most. I really liked being creative making accessories for the little people and seeing them come to life. My 3 year old loves playing with them.

Leaf Creatures

A simple craft that will let children’s creativity flow.
