Carolina Cups, a non-profit breast cancer charity, proudly welcomes you to the first annual LoCo Motion, a three-day walking and running event through the beautiful Lowcountry.
The 2011 inaugural event will be held September 30, October 1, and October 2. Participants will enjoy a different 10-mile course on each of the three days, having the option of running or walking 10 miles on each day, for a combined total of 30 miles through Hilton Head and Bluffton. While completing all three legs is not required, those that finish all 30 miles will be rewarded with a commemorative medal, the Triple Nipple.
This one-of-a-kind event has been carefully orchestrated to appeal to every fitness level and it is especially appealing to the large walking/running community that has grown tired of the ubiquitous 5ks and half marathons.
Thursday, September 29
4-8 pm – Registration check-in, packet pickup, and on-site registration at the Westin. Short-term parking is available at the Westin for LoCo Motion participants.
Friday, September 30
The closest parking to the start/finish lines is Islander’s Beach Park (92 Folly Field Rd), however, we only have 70 parking passes to give to non-Island residents so we this lot will fill on a first come, first serve basis. Hilton Head residents that have beach permits will be able to park in this lot unconditionally. We ask all other to please consider carpooling and/or have a driver drop you off at the start line and park the car at Folly Field Beach Park (55 Starfish Dr). This lot has meters so please bring dollar bills or change. Please note that only guests of the Westin may use the Westin parking lot.
- 11am-2pm - Packet pickup and on-site registrations available at Islander’s Beach Park. Please access the park via US 278 and Folly Field Road (not through Port Royal Plantation). We ask participants to stay in the beach park until 1:30 to avoid traffic conflicts at the start line.
- 1:30 – 2pm – Start line assembly on Folly Field Road.
- 2pm – Let the games begin!
- 5-5:30pm – Casual Survivor Celebration & Day One awards at the Westin Pool Deck.
Saturday, October 1
Please refer to the parking map to find available public parking in Bluffton.
- 7-8am - Packet pickup and on-site registrations available at Cork’s in the Calhoun Street Promenade, 1297 May River Road.
- 7:30 – 8am – Assemble start line in the Calhoun Street Promenade
- 8am – Day Two begins!
- 10am – 2pm – LoCo Motion after-party in the Calhoun Street Promenade. Day Two Awards & Announcements will be made around 11am.
Sunday, October 2
Please use the Coligny Beach Parking lot or any of the on-street spaces available in the area.
- 7-8am – Packet pickup and on-site registrations available at Coligny Beach
- 7:45 – 8am – Assemble start line on the beach
- 8am – Day Three begins!
- 10am – 2pm – LoCo Motion after-party at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront. Brief Closing Remarks & Day Three Awards will be made around noon.
