Get Fit Challenger

Mother of three Dana Zendzien recently won Lowcountry Child's Get Fit Challenge — four weeks of free LoCo Boot Camp classes, a free consultation with Mattis Chiropractic and 30 days of Jenny Craig with one week free of food. The catch? She is required to journal about her Get Fit experience in Lowcountry Child's Blog Pen. Track her journey as she kicks butt at bootcamp and sharpens her eating habits for the better.

The Get Fit Challenge comes to an end

Officially, my four week Get Fit Challenge has come to an end. However, I have just incorporated the building blocks I need to keep me on the right track. It has not been easy making the right food choices or getting up at 5 a.m. to go to Boot Camp. But I did it! Not only did I complete this intense training I was LoCo's Biggest Loser! It was both denial and shock for me for about 4 days. Now I am pleased and have accepted the hard work I did.

Thank you to Heather Bragg for putting this contest together, Jenny Craig in Bluffton, and especially Laura Morgan from LoCo Boot Camp. The daily motivation she dishes out is just what I needed. I couldn't have done this with out their help! Thank you so much for this opportunity to change my health!!

Progress, Not Perfection

Sabotage!

I sabotaged both my early morning workout and diet last night by drinking a bottle of wine with a friend. It happened so suddenly. Would you like to have a glass of wine? Yes, of course. Talk, talk, talk. Pour more wine. Talk, talk, talk. talk. More wine poured. I don't think I should have any more. That's ok, because there is just a tablespoon left. What? How did that happen?

Jenny Craig has a great quote I can turn to in times like these, "Progress, not perfection." Today was another day. Even though I missed the 545AM workout I did get a fabulous workout while my two boys played at Island Playground.

Mommy Interruption

Monday, April 26

Monday morning! Early.

I could have easily skipped today's workout. The baby was up at 3 a.m., and I had to rock him (in the chair not with music) for a bit. Laura Morgan sent us an e-mail last night inviting us to dress up for 60s day this morning. Somehow I didn't want to scare everyone with my half shirt and tube socks, so I have decided to dress in normal attire for boot camp this morning.

Tomorrow is the last day of Jenny Craig food that was provided for me. I loved having all the meals portioned in perfect portion control boxes.

Get Fit: I think I can, I think I can

April 19 First Day of LoCo Boot Camp!

What I remember — when I wasn't huffing and puffing — is: “No runner left behind, sweep them in!” So in other words, if you happened to be one of the better runners of the group, you will be turning around and following the rest of the group back in. We also quacked like ducks around a circle while squatting with a resistance band around our ankles.

The Get Fit Challenge begins

Lowcountry Child would like to congratulate Dana Zendzian, a Bluffton mother of three, for winning the Get Fit Challenge. Like most moms, Dana has struggled with finding time for herself to workout and to eat right. We were inspired by Dana's conviction and strength to open herself up to the public. We wish you luck and support, Dana, on your journey to good health.

My heart has already begun to beat faster. I am almost sweating. What have I signed up for? I haven't even gotten off the couch yet but I already have butterflies about the commitment I have just won. Now I have to be responsible and diligent about exercising and being mindful of what I put in my mouth. I already know what my bigger challenge is. Mindless eating. I am sure there will be more to follow later on that.
